Look at your own hair and that of 2 other people or use the "Hair Microscope Pictures" file from page 0 of this lesson for the following questions

Please answer the questions below.

 

 Draw what you see under the microscope for at least 3 different hair colors/textures at 100x magnification.

Note: Draw your sketch in the sketchpad below

SAQ: What did you notice about the structure of your own hair or the hair that most closely resembles yours from the "Hair Microscope Pictures" file (point out at least 2 characteristics)?


Compare and contrast the structures you saw in your own hair to that of the other 2 hair colors you looked at under the microscope.


What do you think causes these structures and differences (speculate about at least 2 things and explain your reasoning)?


SAQ: Based on this analysis, what question(s) will we need to answer before we can explain how our hair is different (minimum 1)?


Optional: What do you think happens as some people get older and their hair starts to go grey/white?  Think about the structure of hair as you saw it under the microscope
